چکیده
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global public health threat. Quality data on AMR are needed to tackle the rise of multidrug-resistant clones. These rare in low-income countries, especially sub-Saharan Africa. In this study, we investigated extended-spectrum β-lactamase–producing (ESBL) Enterobacteriaceae Bangui, Central African Republic. We collected 278 fecal samples from 0–5-year-old children admitted Pediatric University Hospital Complex Bangui July September 2021. were isolated and identified, their susceptibility 19 antibiotics was tested. recovered one two species 208 29 samples, respectively. One clone each sample further characterized, for total 266 isolates. Escherichia coli predominated, followed by Klebsiella. frequent, with 98.5% (262/266) isolates resistant at least antibiotic. Additionally, 89.5% (238/266) multidrug resistant, being frequent against all tested except carbapenems tigecycline, which no found. Importantly, 71.2% (198/278) carried ESBL species, 85.3% (227/266) displayed phenotype. This study confirms stresses need action preserve efficacy antibiotics, as crucial treatment bacterial infections.

The 3.4% incidence of HBoV observed in our study is similar to that (3.1%) reported by Allander et al. (2). HBoV was the only infectious agent identified in 6 children, which suggests that it was the causative agent of the disease. However, more studies conducted in ch...

words 148) Extended–spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Enterobacteriaceae have spread worldwide but there are few reports on carriage in hospitals in low-income countries. As ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-PE) have been increasingly isolated from nosocomial infections in Antananarivo, Madagascar, we conducted a prevalence survey in a pediatric unit. Fecal carriage was detected in 21...

Extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates (ESBLE) are emerging pathogens that confer resistance to antimicrobial drugs. We conducted a 10-year study in France (January 2001-April 2010) to investigate the incidence of and risk factors for ESBLE infections after liver transplant. Of 710 transplant patients screened preoperatively for ESBLE fecal carriage, 5.5% had ESBLE ...

Extended-spectrum-β-lactamase (ESBL)/AmpC producing Enterobacteriaceae have been reported worldwide amongst isolates obtained from humans, food-producing animals, companion animals, and environmental sources. However, data on prevalence of fecal carriage of ESBL/AmpC producing Enterobacteriaceae in healthy companion animals is limited. This pilot study describes the prevalence of ESBL/AmpC enco...

Limited data is available on pediatric community-onset infections with extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-PE), but such infections may affect both the efficacy of empiric antibiotic therapy and the rational use of antibiotics. We retrospectively analyzed data from 2007 to 2012 for all children ≤16 years old with a positive ESBL-PE strain from usually sterile sites w...
